FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS

  • After I burn my candle and it cools there are holes or rough areas on the top of the candle. Why is this happening?
Part of this is because of the wax we used to use, it almost always did this with our candles, other makers have reported issues as well. We have switched wax manufacturers and types but still occasionally see this. It could also have to do with the high concentration of fragrance oil in the wax.
  • Why does my candle wick look burnt?
On some of the candles that were made with an older type of wax the top of the candles had caves (holes), mountains (Raised portions around the wicks) or frosting (a thin coating of wax of raised wax). We used a heat gun to melt the top of the wax to smooth it out so it looks more presentable and in the process the wick may get slightly singed.
  • Are all of your candles made from 100% Soy Wax?
All of our container candles are made from 100% Soy wax. We have used a few different types trying to find the best combination and have finally settled on on brand. Our figurines candles utilize paraffin wax. We made several with 100% paraffin wax due to its strength but it also leaves a rough, bubbly appearance. We have started mixing the figurine candles with 50% paraffin and 50% soy pillar wax blend and get the strength of the paraffin and smooth finish of the soy wax.
  • What is the difference between the soy wax and the paraffin wax?
Soy wax is a natural, renewable and sustainable product made from the soybean plant. Since it is all natural there are no fumes and little to no soot produced during the burning process. It does burn at a lower temperature and some blends will have a much scent throw than other waxes. Paraffin wax is a byproduct of the chemical/oil processing industry. Since it is a chemical product it will produce a certain amount of soot and release some chemicals which may be considered toxic. We only use the paraffin wax in our figurine candles which are more of a decoration but can be burned. In addition to soy and paraffin wax the is also bee's wax and coconut wax that can be used in candle making along with different blends of waxes. We do not utilize any of these other waxes in any of our products.
